What is a Pro Series Hotstand?

We were engine builders who grew up in the muscle car boom of the 60’s. To us it didn’t matter Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Dodge, Plymouth, AMC they were all good on any given day. Competition was fast and furious. At every red light there was a challenge involving cars like Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Challenger, or AMX. Tracks were blistered each week by cars like Superbird, Torino, Cobra, Charger, Chevelle, or GTO. If you loved cars, life was great! For that matter, the same was happening on the water with high performance boats like Donzi, Magnum, or Cigarette. They all used, for the most part, automotive based engines.

When we installed an engine, we wanted to eliminate the drama that some TV shows exploit when starting an engine for the first time. We didn’t want dripping gaskets, loose rockers, leaking soft plugs or any other common issues that could spoil a start up. Our customers didn’t want to deal with those issues either. When we did a “hot lash” setting, spattered oil on fender wells or in a bilge was unacceptable. We wanted to have a high level of confidence to successfully install an engine in something that would require minimal “tweaking”. The obvious answer was to run an engine outside of the vehicle which is not a new idea, it has been around for decades. People have used everything from old car frames to wood blocking for custom stands costing a fortune. We built a crude engine test stand by our standards in the 70’s for our own use. Then we sold our first custom stand in 1980 to a customer “retiring” an old Donovan Hemi. It was just the beginning of our learning curve. This first custom design was also modified to run other engines.

Since 1995, Supertune is mainly in the business of building Hotstands for automotive, marine, industrial diesel and even aircraft engines. Supertune’s Pro Series Hotstand is a refined take on a piece of equipment that needs to be heavy duty and durable enough to run the biggest engines with the most radical cams with minimal vibration and best support. Hotstands’ safety, quality, and ergonomic standards are some of the best in the industry. Many engine builders, colleges, tech schools, restoration and marine shops, clubs, and serious hobbyists recognize this, often owning multiple Hotstands. We are proud of this achievement. We build Hotstands proudly in the USA. We are not a middleman. We know our products. Our tech help is second to none.
